The Portland Community Partnership (PCP) was formed to carry on the good work of the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) following the loss of the Navy in the late 90s. The SRB on Portland was so successful because it was made up and delivered by a wide variety of partners including statutory and voluntary agencies, as well as members of the public. This ethos has been carried on by the PCP. The Partnership was formally constituted in 2001 as an unincorporated not for profit organisation. In 2018 following approval by members the partnership became formally incorporated with a Board of Directors with limited liability shareholding. See our Projects page for information on our activities.
The Portland Community Partnership ensures the voice and opinions of the Island's residents is heard through our engagement programmes and activities so we can better inform local government, the business sector and other organisations about the needs and concerns of the Island's communities.
The PCP actively play a key role in strategic planning issues and supports the Town Council with progressing the Portland Neighbourhood Plan as well as the private sector led Portland Economic Vision Board to bring employment to the Island and create an environment for business sustainability
The Partnership effectively runs as a Development Corporation supporting organisations as required to deliver Portland projects, ideas and provide information on major developments that may impact the Island and the community.
The PCP undertakes and supports the development of the Portland Neighbourhood Plan to safeguard and promote a sustainable Island and it's future developments.
The PCP provides feedback and regular communication of local news, engaging in public meetings, giving updates on projects and local developments. The PCP also supports the community through community surveys for direct feedback to other organisations and agencies

Andy has supported the Community Partnership for several years and has been its representative on a number of initiatives and he believes that the Island needs a community partnership that must continually evolve so as to be seen to be valid and important.
